Welcome to our brand new blog. We have decided that it is time to share our learning with our families and friends. Our Room 7 Senior Buddies are going to help us develop a blog.

This term we have been learning how to write recounts using time words and past tense.  Here is one written by Emily 22/7.

A Tea Party

On Sunday my friends came for a tea party.  Jocelyn and Kelvin came and Aiden’s

friends came too.  First Zara and Lina came for a tea party for my little sister’s

birthday party. ( It was at home.)

Next we played lots of party games and had tea.  Then we did more games.  Last we

gave out party bags.  It was a brilliant tea party.

This week we have been working on a mini inquiry about Winter.  Here is a recount about the soup we made written by Madison.

On Tuesday Room 4 made vegetable soup at school.  First we washed our hands.  Next we chopped and peeled.  Then Mrs Henderson put soup mix into the big pot.  After that Jo, Sophie and Neil took the pot to the staff room. They added water and let it simmer until it was cooked.  Finally we ate it.  I was happy about it.

Yesterday the juniors went to the hall to sing The New Zealand Song with actions.  Next we sang the mambo song.  After that we listened to the seniors and the juniors sing.  We did not go to the hall for nothing.  We went to the hall to celebrate New Zealand Music Month.  The mambo song was fantastic.

Today when I was walking to the class room I saw ice.  So when I got to room four, I unpacked and ran over to play on the ice.  I slid across the ice.  Then I hopped off the ice. It was slippery when I got off because my shoes were slippery.

On Monday it is the Queen’s birthday so we are going to have a big holiday.  I can have a sleep in on Monday but Monday is not actually the Queen’s birthday.  The Queen’s birthday is in April.

Yesterday there was a parent assembly.  First all the classes went into the hall Then we sang a song.  After that all the classes did items.  Room 4 was the second last one to do their item.  I got a bit bored because it was so long. At the end the children danced the coconut song.  I felt good because I was on stage.

Yesterday there was heaps of rain.  It was so

cold that I was shivering and I was soaking

wet from my head down to my toes.  It was a

flood.  Sadly I did not bring my boots.

On Thursday I went to the aquarium.
First we all went to the room with the board and the teacher asked
“Do we find the same creatures in the same places?’
We voted “yes or no.”
Next we went to the touch tank.
There we got to touch the sea creatures. It was such fun!!!
Then room 4 went to the beach to find out if we voted right or wrong.
I liked going on the beach and finding little sea creatures the most because they were interesting!
